Hello, loves! It's been a weird six weeks or so for me in RL, so much going on and so much stress that I sort of lost my way and lost my inspiration to blog for a while. D: Hopefully it doesn't happen again for a while, as my sponsors are probably near the end of their rope in regards to patience...lol.

Beachy Afternoons.

Hello, my loves!

I was loafing around my house today, not really doing much of anything when my beloved ginger Divos hit me up and asked if I wanted to do a blog picture for Boystown Closet with him! I find it hard to say no to him no matter what anyway, and this sounded really fun, so I said sure, lets do it!

He made me giggle a lot...we caught eachother up with our lives, spilled the tea and gossiped like ladies often do...and we bounced between four or five different photo ideas before he decided on the final product...and I got to spend some time with a good friend. Bless his Southern heart for putting up with my unstable internet connection too, I'm sure it didn't help matters with me crashing every half hour :p

So after I said goodnight to this sexy new guy in my life, I decided that I wasn't done with the beach yet. I slipped into a pretty dress from [Royale] and went to stick my toes in the sand! I saw this hair from Exile on Savvy and Ember of Paperdolls within the past 18 hours or so and loved the messiness of it, so I decided to fight the lag and squeeze into Collabor88 just for it(I'll be going back eventually for other summery stuff, this month's round is especially awesome). It's absolute perfection in its imperfectness, and it's exactly what I wanted for a beachy hairdo. Now if only my hair in RL would cooperate like this...

Anyway, I braved the sand and surf in a much-loved favorite pair of heels from Hucci, and I met a group of turtles! Who knows, maybe I'll be able to get closer and observe...

A little kindness goes a long way.

Words that I really do strive to live by, but also struggle to uphold.

Strawberry Singh did another Monday Meme, and this one really did speak to me on a whole lot of levels. I love her challenges, especially ones that get inside my head and make me think, and look at what I've been doing a different way. We've all been subject to meanness on the internet in this day and age, nobody is exempt...but to also think about how I've been on the other side of the table, been the one being mean...well, it makes me feel uncomfortable. I abhor bullying of any kind, but I am aware that sometimes...I end up being the bully.

Meme instructions: Answer the following questions either on your own blog or on any social platform.

1. Have you ever been subjected to mean comments online by strangers? If not, then skip to question #5.  In this day and age, I don't know anyone who can say that they have never been the target of mean or insensitive comments from strangers...or even from people they know. I came out publicly as pansexual while I lived in the deep southern United States, in a very Catholic family and section of the state, right around the time that Facebook was really starting to gain popularity and Myspace reigned supreme. So to answer the question, yeah, I have.
2. How did you respond to them? Honestly...depending on what the comments were about, my responses are anywhere from silliness, to snarkiness, to striking back to wound just as deeply as I may have been hurt. Some things get under my skin easily, while other things I can just brush off.
3. How did they make you feel? I have this thing about myself where I want everyone to like me and think nothing but positive or happy thoughts about me...or pleasant at the very least...very unrealistic, I know. So when I come across or hear things that people have said about me that are negative, I usually don't take it very well. I'm pretty good at bottling things up, which is actually a very bad habit of mine...but it all eventually comes out, and not in good ways. Shorter version: I don't react well most of the time, I pretend to brush it off, but I do take things personally.
4. Can you share some of the mean comments you've recieved and your thoughts on them? God...in SL alone, I could probably go on for days and days on end, listing every bad or negative thing said to me...I think one thing that sticks in my head the most is when I had my RL picture up in my 1st life About Me tab for a while...some random person who I never met before IMed me and called me an ugly whale, among other things. Usually I can brush that stuff off, but I remember it clearly because it was shortly after my father in RL told me that I was the least photogenic of all three of his kids, so I was already feeling down about myself. I don't remember this person's name, but their words stick with me still.
5. Have you ever ridiculed or negatively commented on someone else's work, actions or personality with the intention to hurt them? This one's a hard one for me to answer. I have never set out to hurt anyone with anything negative I have said...but yes, I have ridiculed and been negative and a general asshole to people. Comments in passing to friends about someone's photography and how much it sucks, negative comments about someone's clothes that they're wearing, their blogging style, their avatar's appearance in some cases...items that I didn't like in a store, sim designs I didn't like...I guess I don't like to admit that stuff to myself, because I do try to be a nice person...but I have a mean streak in me.

To close this out, I'm going to pull an entire paragraph from Strawberry Singh's blogpost, just because it really did speak to me. "If you're the kind of person that is spreading negativity, let it go. Don't let it define who you are in the real world or your voice on the internet. Help promote a more compassionate internet. Contribute to the community in a positive way, and take a moment to make someone's day. <3"

New Beginnings...

Hello, my darling loves! Miss me?

So...a lot sure has changed since I last wrote a blog post. 

I parted ways with my primary blog team of almost a year recently...on good terms, of course. I wish the team at Paper Dolls nothing but the best of luck in all that they do, and I am so thrilled that I was able to be a part of such a wonderful experience.

Ever since parting ways, I have sort of floundered with my blogging. Well, I take that back. Ever since the holiday season, I have floundered. Lost much of the spark that I feel is necessary to be a GOOD fashion blogger. Anyone can start a blog, get sponsors, and do an okay job...but the dedication...the dedication, spark and passion doesn't come to just anyone. For a while, I had that...but over the holidays, I lost it. Somewhere. Probably somewhere at work, since I'm surrounded by a bunch of crazies.

I made a promise to myself this year that I would start focusing on my blogging more, getting better at it...and so far, I haven't lived up to my own standards. Sure, I could blame it on the fact that when I come home from work in RL, I'm usually exhausted, and the last thing I want to do is write and be in Photoshop...but that's a cop-out and I know it. Some of the bloggers I look up to the most in SL have VERY hectic schedules in both SL and RL, or struggle with busted PCs but they are still able to pump out some incredible posts.

So!! My mission: To focus on all things fabulous and show off everything and anything I find that I want(need) to share with you all, my adoring, wonderful viewers!!! And I'm going to start off this new year with quite the bang, with cuteness from Gos(duh hello, SHOES) and Maxi Gossamer :3

What better way to showcase TWO brand new shoes from Gos Boutique than to have a fellow shoe lover pose with you? Obviously I can't double my amazingness, so I pulled in my darling sister to help me :3

We are both HUGE fans of Sex and the City, so when Gos released the Carrie and the Samantha, we were both all over that like...hmm...like we're all over shoe sales! *giggles*

The Samantha has a lovely pointy toe, with a little stud on the back of the heel, while the Carrie is more of your classic round-toe stiletto. They are L$495 a pair at Gos, and there is a patent leather version of each shoe available at FaMESHed this month! Yaaaay!

Speaking of FaMESHed, there are some supremely amazing designers there, as always, showing off their stuff. When Amaya was dressing for this post with me, she stopped over at a different store before I brought her over to see this month's goodies, and she was mid-outfit change. She came here, cammed around at some of the things I pointed out to her...and then she found the new coat that Mutresse released. First she asked me if I had seen it, and that she thought I would be all over it. I admit, I hadn't seen it yet, and when I looked, I saw why she thought I would love it...it's flouncy, short, multi-layered and adorable!! The coat comes with a color-change HUD that gives you the option to change the textures of the belt, clasps, sleeves, the skirts, and so much other things a whopping 14 different colors! 

While we were at Fameshed, I showed her the jewelry set from Maxi Gossamer that I had gifted her. Gifted, you say? So naturally, my first thought after seeing the gift version, I knew it had to go to my wonderful sister, who has stood by me and helped me with so much throughout the years. I truly don't know where I would be in this world without her at my side to make me giggle, to be my sounding board when I am needing advice, and to give me the guidance that I need.

Wow, I didn't mean to go all super gushy. But my excuse is...that not everyone in the grid is as privileged as I am to have an Amaya in their life. 

So there you have it, darlings!! My first post of the new year, a fresh start in blogging, and hopefully this is the kick in the pants that I needed to really kickstart me back into business. I've got sponsors to brag about, after all!

Everyone who knows me, knows how much of a sucker I amm for charitable causes, in RL and in SL as well. I happily donate what I can every month to the local ASPCA, I used to donate generously to Feed the Children and the Autism Society of America(in honor of my RL younger brother) and I try to walk in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, every year. In SL I donate to Locks of Love/Wigs For Kids(by shopping at the Hair Fair and donating in kiosks as well) and to RFL. I am not adverse to shopping for a cause, because it means that I get to fill my inventory with exclusive things, and I get a good feeling because my lindens are going to help someone who needs it way more than I do. That's where the Love Donna Flora event comes in. The creative genius behind the showstopping jewelry and clothing is suffering from breast cancer, and she has to finance any alternative therapies she tries, and she is responsible for almost all of the costs of her home nursing care. So naturally, my bleeding heart is screaming that I MUST be here and must spend spend spend. I've seen the devastation that breast cancer causes firsthand(my RL mom is a 8 year survivor and one of my friends' moms is in her 3rd year of remission), and as a part of my RL nursing training, I spent some time on the cancer ward in the hospital. It's hard to witness, and I can only imagine what the people who go through it feel. 

Anyway, I can feel myself tearing up a little as I write this, so it's time to move on to happy things. Like...the exclusive color of the Lorend'Orsay(aptly and cutely named Flora) released by Gos Boutique!! I was determined to get to this event as soon as possible, and as soon as I got a notice that the sim was open, I went over. I had a little bit of technical difficulties(meaning I wore my entire jewelry folder there, instead of taking off my jewelry to save on scripts...derpy me), but I perservered and fought the lag to get to the Gos kiosk, and I wasn't disappointed...

Yay, shoes!!!

I didn't really look around the sim because I only wanted to go for these shoes tonight(I ended up picking up three couples poses and the LivGlam demos though, go figure), but let me tell you...there are a TON of kiosks, and from what I saw...so many cute things!!

This event runs from July 25th until August 11th, and once this event is over, I don't think you'll be seeing these shoes in this pattern again...so what are you waiting for?? Go there! Just be prepared to fight the lag. In that case, do what I was taught to do by my fabulous daddeh: De-render all those people who are hoggin up your precious bandwidth, and stroll on through like a boss!! :P
